ABSTRACT

Objective:To explore the predictive value of the levels of carbohydrate antigen125 (CA125) and N-terminal pro brain natriuretic peptide (NT-proBNP) in patients with chronic heart failure. Methods:One hundred and thirty-five patients with chronic heart failure admitted to Jiashan Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine from January 2018 to June 2019 were selected as the observation group. According to NYHA classification standard of cardiac function, 51 patients was Ⅱ grade, 36 patients was Ⅲ grade and 48 patients was Ⅳ grade. Eighty healthy people in same period were selected as the control group. The levels of CA125 and NT-proBNP were measured by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay and immunofluorescence respectively. The levels of serum CA125 and NT-proBNP were compared between the two groups, and the mortality and readmission of the patients with different levels of CA125 and NT-proBNP were observed after 6 months of follow-up.Results:The serum CA125 and NT-proBNP levels in the observation group were higher than those in the control group [(87.81 ± 23.51) kU/L vs. (15.24 ± 3.24) kU/L, (397.25 ± 72.15) ng/L vs. (30.54 ± 3.41) ng/L] , and there were significant differences ( P<0.05). The levels of serum CA125 and NT-proBNP gradually increased with the NYHA classification. There was no significant difference in mortality between patients with different CA125 and NT-proBNP levels ( P>0.05). The readmission rate of CA125 ≥ 35 kU/L was higher than that of CA125<35 kU/L [64.00% (48/75) vs. 41.67%(25/60)] , the readmission rate of patients with NT-proBNP ≥ 450 ng/L was higher than that of patients with NT-proBNP<450 ng/L [65.57%(40/61) vs. 44.59%(33/74)], and there were significant differences ( P<0.05). Conclusions:The levels of CA125 and NT-proBNP in the peripheral blood of patients with chronic heart failure are significantly increased, which are closely related to the classification of cardiac function, and have an important predictive value for the readmission of patients.

ABSTRACT

To systematically evaluate the efficacy and safety of external therapies of traditional Chinese medicine(TCM) combined with sodium hyaluronate(SH) injected in articular cavity therapy on knee osteoarthritis(KOA). The following databases such as CNKI, WanFang, VIP, CBM, PubMed and Medline were researched to collect the randomized controlled trails on external therapies of TCM combined with sodium hyaluronate injected in articular cavity therapy on KOA. The selection of studies, assessment of methodological quality and data extraction were performed independently by two researchers. The methodological quality was assessed by using the Cochrane system evaluation methodology and Meta-analysis were performed by using Cochrane Collaboration's the RevMan 5.3 software. Forteen studies involving 1 449 patients were included. All of the trails were not adequate enough in methodological quality. Meta-analysis indicated that compared with control group, external therapies of TCM combined with sodium hyaluronate injected in articular cavity could raise effectiv rate(<0.000 01) and cure-rate(<0.000 01), improve Lysholm score(=0.003) and reduce VAS score(<0.000 1). But two groups have no difference in Womac score (=0.13).Compared with the treatment with sodium hyaluronate injected in articular cavity, external therapies of TCM combined with sodium hyaluronate injected in articular cavity, a promising treatment options, can be complementary advantages, improve the clinical curativ effect. But it still needs low risk and high quality clinical trials to verify.

ABSTRACT

To investigate the composition and diversity of heat resistant microorganisms in contaminated Chinese herbal pieces. Matrix-assisted laser desorption/ionization time of flight mass spectrometry (MALDI-TOF-MS) protein fingerprinting and 16S rRNA high-throughput sequencing of Illumina Miseq were used to analyze the heat resistant microbial community of 9 varieties of Chinese herbal pieces. Stem pieces (Spatholobi Caulis, Tetrapanacis Medulla, Stachyuri Medulla) showed highest detection rate and most species of contaminants; However fruit pieces (Schisandrae Sphenantherae Fructus) had the lowest detection rate and least species of contaminants; among root pieces, the detection rate and number of contaminants species were lower in Tuber Dioscoreae Persimilis and Rehmanniae Radix Praeparata. The heat resistant microbial community was mainly of Bacillaceae and Paenibacillaceae, and Bacillus showed the highest detection rate among them, followed by Brevibacillus, Paenibacillus, and Solibacillus. The rest genus in high-throughput sequencing analysis included Enterobacter, Brevundimonas, Leuconostoc, Methylobacterium, Dechloromonas, Pantoea, Klebsiella, and Erwinia. There were potential risk factors in heat resistant microbial community of Chinese herbal pieces, so we shall improve the microbial limit standard, strictly control the pathogenic bacteria in the product, and strengthen the supervision and management in production and circulation of Chinese herbal pieces.

ABSTRACT

<p><b>OBJECTIVE</b>To investigate the protective effect of Danxuetong injection (DXT, a combination of Danshen and Xueshuantong injections) against testicular ischemia-reperfusion injury following testis torsion/detorsion in rats.</p><p><b>METHODS</b>Thirty-two 4-week-old healthy male SD rats were randomly divided into four groups of equal number: sham operation, normal saline, single DXT injection, and successive DXT injection. The rat models of testicular ischemia-reperfusion injury were established by 2-hour 720-degree torsion/detorsion of the unilateral testis. At 6 weeks after modeling, the rats were killed and their testes were harvested for measure- ment of testicular coefficients, sperm counts, sperm motility, and the levels of total anti-oxidative capacity (T-AOC) , superoxide dismutase (SOD) , nitric oxide synthase (NOS) , and malondialdehyde ( MDA) in the testis tissue.</p><p><b>RESULTS</b>Compared with the rats of the normal saline group, those of the single DXT injection and successive DXT injection groups showed significant increases in the testicular coefficient (0.11 ± 0.03 vs 0.35 ± 0.04 and 0.40 ± 0.06, P < 0.05), sperm count ([0.46 ± 0.10] vs [1.44 ± 0.50] and [3.00 ± 1.28] x10(9)/ml, P < 0.05), sperm motility ([13.63 ± 14.04] vs [39.63 ± 5.04] and [76.31 ± 3.67]%, P < 0.05), the activity of SOD (72.76 ± 5.58 vs 116.25 ± 8.83 and 133.20 ± 13.84, P < 0.05), and the level of T-AOC (5.58 ± 1.07 vs 13.34 ± 5.81 and 19.21 ± 5.69, P < 0.05), but a remarkable decrease in the content of MDA (42.38 ± 8.94 vs 20.94 ± 5.65 and 15.02 ± 1.03, P < 0. 05) in the injured testes.</p><p><b>CONCLUSION</b>DXT can effectively rid the testis tissue of oxygen free radicals, improve sperm count and motility by antioxidation, and protect the testis tissue of prepubertal rats against testicular ischemia-reperfusion injury after testis torsion/detorsion. It also has a protective effect on the contralateral testis, and successive injection has a better effect than single injection of DXT.</p>
